Romanian Cultural Events 2008

16th February, 2008: book release Ignited Minds translated into Romanian language by H.E. Mr. Vasile Sofineti, Ambassador of Romania [illustrations by Dipto Narayan Chatterjee]. Chief Guest: H.E. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India.

11th March, 2008: Romanian film screening–Filantropica–directed by Nae Caranfil, as part of the Francophone Film Festival, Alliance Française, 10th – 19th March, 2008.

13th–18th March, 2008: Glimpses Of Romania, an exhibition of the Indian painter Dipto Narayan Chatterjee, organised by the Romanian Section of the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi and the Embassy of Romania in New Delhi. The inauguration took place on March 13th, Room 32, Arts Faculty and was honoured by the presence of H.E. Mr. Vasile Sofineti, Ambassador of Romania.

14th March, 2008: Poetry across Cultures by Expression, a poetry reading initiated by Dr. Rita Malhotra, The English Creative Writing Society, and Ms. Olivia Bălănescu, Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi, and inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Vasile Sofineti, Ambassador of Romania. Venue: Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi.

2nd April, 2008: Lecture on India and Romania–Survey of a Diplomatic and Cultural History (60 years of diplomatic relations)–by Dr. Vlad Nistor, Director General, Ministry of External Affairs, and Dr. Daniela Zaharia, Training Director, Romanian Diplomatic Institute, Ministry of External Affairs, Romania. Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru University.

9th April, 2008: Romanian film screening–Occident–directed by Cristi Mungiu, as part of the European Union Film Festival, 1st – 9th April, 2008. Venue: Indian Habitat Centre.
