Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching for 2023-24
GENERAL
Every year, a large number of students of the Department avail of scholarships to study or do research at universities in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
RESEARCH AND OTHER PROJECTS
The Department has a general focus in teaching and research at the MA / MPhil / PhD levels on the area Contemporary Europe and the Postcolonial World.
A regular translation project is being developed for translations from European literature into Indian languages and from Indian literature into European languages.
A Foreign Language Education programme has also been designed in collaboration with the cultural institutes of France (Alliance Française), Germany (Max Mueller Bhawan), Spain (Instituto Cervantes), Italy (Instituto Italiano di Cultura) and Portugal (Instituto Camões).
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The French section celebrates Francophony day every March. It is an opportunity for students to showcase French culture through plays, songs quiz and a cookery competition.
The Portuguese section organises a Lusophone week every year with the participation of various embassies. There are conferences and a cultural presentation of Lusophone countries.
The Italian Language Week is held in collaboration with the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in October every year.
DRAMATICS AND LITERARY SOCIETY
The Dramatics & Literary Society of the Department provides an opportunity for students to organise plays, quiz, elocution and debating competitions. It also runs a wall magazine where students can give expression to their creativity. Since it’s inception six years ago, Theatre workshops under the guidance of qualified theatre professionals from the National School of Drama, Delhi have been conducted.
ERASMUS MUNDUS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INDIA
The Erasmus Mundus External Co-operation Window Lot 15 (EMECW15) for India is part of a project funded by the European Union to increase cooperation and exchange between Europe and other parts of the world. It is designed to fund higher education student and teaching staff mobility activities between 12 European universities and 8 Indian universities. Also eligible for scholarship are other Indian nationals.
The University of Delhi is a partner university of the EMECW15 in India.
Eligibility: undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral students and academic staff.
